For centuries, the Japanese drum, the taiko, has been an indispensable instrument in Japanese life and culture. However, interest in this instrument declined sharply around the middle of the Meiji era (1868 - 1912). Fortunately, traditional percussion has been enjoying great popularity again in Japan for decades, where groups such as KODO, and previously Ondekoza, now reign supreme. Read more

Beating Heart - Multimedia Spectacle!

The BeatingHeart can be seen as a short creative version of a corporate film. Filmed and edited in the style of a music video, performed with 'live-sync' percussion.

For your guests, it is an exciting and smooth introduction to your employees, your services and/or your company.

Prior to your event, our film crew will make video recordings of percussionists drumming on your company's attributes. Depending on the sector in which you are active, this can vary from beating on car parts to drumming on machines or parts thereof... everything is possible.

Taikodrumming

Drumming is extremely popular, and rightly so! Drumming is accessible and everyone can use their energy.

The taiko workshops of House of Circles are based on the Japanese art of drumming (Taiko drumming). Dedication, simplicity, teamwork, discipline, respect and, of course, fun are the foundations of the workshop. The drumming workshops are further characterised by physical playing styles, unrelenting energy and a lot of playing on the most unique Taikos in Europe (some with a diameter of 2 metres!).

Beats on Barrels

Beats on Barrels is perfect if you are looking for a percussion workshop for a large group. Groups up to 1,000 people can easily drum on the many blue drums ('Barrels').

Ideal as a teambuilding activity or staff outing. Or just because it is so much fun. The Barrels are indestructible, everyone can use all their energy on them. Of course, the basis is an informal, relaxed way of teaching with lots of humour.

The study of the functioning of a percussion group, especially a Japanese percussion group, makes the session an event that is easy to follow and, at the same time, makes high demands on the participants. What is needed to make the performance a success? In this case, it is not so much about musicality as it is about being aware of one's own efforts and cooperation.

The parallels with processes in organisations are easy to make. After all, organisations deal with issues concerning leadership, employee effectiveness, innovative power, taking responsibility and the functioning of teams.

Private lessons

About 15 years ago Circle Percussion established its own taiko school: "taiko school House of Circles". This was necessary in order to meet the increasing private interest. Meanwhile the taikoschool is running at full speed. There are many classes that take place weekly or monthly. In addition, there are numerous extra offers such as master classes and Sunday Drumdays. Taiko masters from Japan are regular guests for master classes.
